What a heating quote has to carry
Heating work is sold on trust and lost on ambiguity. The customer can't see most of what you're pricing, so the quote has to do the showing: what's included, what the flush actually is, and what happens when the pipework under the floor has other ideas.

It's the first thing a careful customer checks and the easiest thing to show. On every quote, in the header, without being asked.
- Each part of the system, its own line
Radiators, valves, filter, controls, flush — a single "heating upgrade" figure invites the customer to compare it with a quote that quietly includes less. Line by line, the cheaper number has to say what it left out.
- The flush, named
A power flush and a chemical clean are different jobs at different prices, and skipping either can void a boiler warranty. Name which one is priced — it protects the customer's warranty and your figure.
- Controls, specified
"Smart controls" spans an £80 dial and a £300 learning thermostat. The make and model on the line fixes the spec before the box is opened.
- What's excluded
Pipework buried in walls and floors that fails under flush pressure, making good, redecoration — if it's not your work, the quote should say so before the customer assumes it is.
- VAT, validity and the deposit
Most heating firms are VAT-registered — show it as its own line. Date the offer, and if radiators and controls are bought before you start, say what's due on acceptance.
A worked example
A radiator and controls upgrade on an open-vented system, said once, into a phone. The prices are illustrative — yours come from your own price book, or from what you say.

Semi over in Fairfield. Swap the four upstairs radiators for type 22 doubles, TRVs on all of them. Power flush the whole system, eight rads. Magnetic filter on the return at the boiler, and change the hall stat for the wireless smart one they asked about. System's open-vented and staying that way.
